I suppose we could implement a radio item which cycles between known frequencies (you can buy them!) and I guess you could give a specific branch access to the radio station. Choose to broadcast your voice, or stream from YouTube. It's possible.
Possible maybe, but not something we'd want from launch. There's other things that we consider more important than a radiostation.
Thats more or less somthing for the admins to do, rather than a hard coded feature, but some simple tools to make the job easier would be nice, what such tools i have no idea, just got off work, might have some later
TVs or computers that can play YouTube videos. Also cell phones and maybe phonebooks that give numbers of all characters with phones. Not meaning to mention other places but something like gmod towers had where you can customize your own rooms with actual functional stuff would be refreshing. And having to buy props instead of free spawning with game money.
We really don't need Youtube touching the server at all. The last thing I want to do is be within a range of one of those devices and end up loading the video.
Right, I'll clarify a large position on youtube and radiostations etc, but mostly youtube. This is something we can look into, and if anything, is pretty straightforwards. However this is something that would most likely not launch at release. I mean if you want to watch youtube videos (alone), in my opinion you're better off going to your browser and watching them there. You don't need to watch them on some titchy screen whilst waiting. As Boilrig said, the last thing you want is to be walking around and suddenly be hit by a small performance hit because someone is watching "charlie the unicorn" on "TV". Just to reiterate, it'll probably surface at some point, but certainly not at launch. As for things like cellphones, we have those planned, infact the data entry / loading parts of them are mostly in place. We're not Gmod tower, we dont have 6 devs 3 modellers and 90 ten year olds that enjoy gimmicks on there. The idea behind this gamemode is functionality and something that can help create experiences, not little hats that have heliblades on them that spin when you go WHEEEEEEEE. I am currently working on an instancing method (ie 50 people can share the same house, but they'd never see each other etc) however so far it's proving a tad buggy, seeing as source doesn't exactly like this sort of thing. Something we don't have at the moment is a map we're currently going to use (heck, everything is tested on gm_flatgrass atm). I'd prefer a special one instead of using Evocity, but we may end up using that, hence the need for this instancing.
I would like that... Whats wrong with going WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE while you fly up into the air with 12 RPGs blasting destroying everything in your path. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
An actual punishment for being arrested. Instead of of spending 5 minutes in jail where most people will just alt+tab out. Maybe there could be a GTA sort of punishment, where you loose a portion of your money and all of your inventory. Also with a little bit of RPing we could have a whole trial system.
Oh dear god yes, maybe not so much the loss of money unless the police system can avoid the abuse of it. Trials always sound good to me, but implementing them is gona be a bit tricky in my opinion, but really all you need is somone who wishes to be judge and can be trusted as such. We could also actualy have the police have to escort people to jail, rather than just "Swing baton, POOF, suspect in jail"

White-listed Police Chiefs who are allowed to just take the job simply if no one else has said job. Also meaning if your not chosen to be a Police Chief, You don't have access to it. Then maybe for regular cops, the police chief and some other government official has some say in it somehow?
Back in RP07, we actually sort of had this. It wasn't scripted it in, but just RP'd (The whole trial thing). Here's two problems with being jailed. People get bored and leave, or people get bored and alt tab. It completely kills any form of RP possible. So as whitefang says, give us some indepth suggestion that we can mull over and we'll consider it. Just to ninja this quickly, the way police works has changed.
The problem with a trial is, if there's nobody online to perform said trial, what would be their punishment? Would they be jailed until their trial? A default punishment?
You see here, there is an Amendment in the United States Constitution that claims thou shall have a speedy trial, and If one does not have a lawyer one will be provided by the court. tl;too british = What about lawyers?
So here's my idea. Say I'm booked for a double homicide. There's a penalty for my crimes (say 20% of my wallet). I spend my time in jail. When I get out I have two options. A plea deal, where my money is kept and I can walk free. Or a trial date where my money is left as collateral and I have a court trial where my money and inventory could be possibly returned. The trial could be set up 2 ways a judge ruling where me the defendant has to make his case to the judge. Or there could a full jury system where two lawyers a prosecutor and a defendant argue it out and the jury decides on if I'm innocent or not. Just a basic idea of how it would work.
I assume there are limits to the way this can work, but if we simplify it in a way I could see that working.
Had some trials back in 08 as well, dono if they were as good, but anyways. As for ideas on how the jailing system could work, the actual arrest portion could be a bit more interactive, rather than a (Poof) arrested method, possibly add the ability for officers to handcuff or ziptie a suspect"Doable only if the officer has not been hurt in the last 5 seconds, and for at least 5 seconds during the process of tieing them up" At this point the suspect no longer has access to their inventory "If its still in the script" their currently equiped items, or any /pm or outward calling ability to prevent them from fighting back or calling backup if they are arrested,they can still talk and shout, just no calling on their magic cellphones, if a friend was nearby they can easily call for backup or try to defend the suspect if they wish At this point the officer has to escort the suspect back to jail, until the person reaches the "Jail Zone" the jail timer will not start to countdown, and they will remain in cuffs until either they are : released by the arresting officer, killed, timer runs out in jail, or they can escape the police on foot, and have somone either cut the ties, or pick the lock, either action being noticeable by people around you, and takeing up to 20-30 seconds to complete, so somone just walking by cannot cut a crim loose. When a timer runs out on somone, their teleported just outside the jail section or to the main ent of the police station, so they can walk out, 30-60 seconds after, access to their equiped items and inventory is restored. If the suspect tries to run, the officer has a few choices, simply beat them down with a trunchent until their on the ground and drag them to the station, issue verbal warning that they will shoot if they dont stop "Not shoot to kill, aim for legs to slow suspect down or cause to fall over?" Maybe mace them if this is added. Really i dont see many other options to stop somone from running, maybe a battle royal collar, but besides that i dont see much else to stop somone from running. As to what someone can do in jail to prevent them from getting bored, kinda depends on the jail setting, if its just flat out jailcells they dont have much of an option but to just sit there and wait...maybe lift weights? Sodomy? Impulsing scrolling? Dig to freedom?
