    I read that book and it is just depressing. That is indeed a situation of dystopia.

    I loved the book, while yea it seems depressing, i never felt that way about it.

    I always found the concept of "Vaporisation" crazy, to just remove someone from recorded history, so that later no one would know they existed

    Nikolai Yezhov was a high ranking NKVD offical back in soviet russia, eventualy Stalin began to dislike him, had him arrested, striped of his title, tortured until he confessed to fake crimes, then sentenced him to death. Afterwards all offical photographs of him were doctored to have him removed.

    Clearly since the fall proof this happened came to light
