First of all, thanks to everyone being patient. I've had a busy week so I wasn't able to get around to the maps until now. One thing that would greatly speed things up is if people specify what server the map is for - easy or hard. Some of you are already doing this which is fine; but at times I can't tell if you're submitting for the sake of it or if you mean a particular server. surf_frequency_no_jail - Accepted for hard server surf_olympics - no, this is pebble madness. surf_stonework3 - no, seems too hard for the easy esrver. surf_omnibus - for the nth time, no due to an issue the map has. surf_underworld - accepted for the hard server. surf_this_njv - Not really a fun map to surf surf_core_fix - all in all just a poor quality map. surf_classics - not sure about in terms of quality / new player friendliness (some stages are very unclear / penalties) but potentially could be added. Map file has been done incorrectly; if this was fixed then again, possibly. surf_classics2 - (while not actually processed) this map has huge issues, even moreso compared to classics; albeit it looking nicer. surf_delusional - I like the map but you processed the stages in the wrong order. EG Stage 3 completes stage 6? Correct this and it'll be added to the hard server. surf_polygon I'm on the fence about. It'd be nice to have some feedback if people would enjoy surfing this or if it's just surf_ohgodmyeyesarebleeding
surf_polygon is a very fun map to surf, but from the second stage and beyond it truly is an eyesore whose brightness really needs adjusting.
Okay, it turns out that the map actually randomizes the stages by default meaning that the file you gave me was probably correct at the time of your map, but a reload then forces it to all be out of whack. What this means essentially is if we were to use this map, we'd need to set up teleports at the end of every stage to then send us to a new stage. I might process this, or if you feel like giving it a go, you can do it.
I found this map kz_surf_protraining. It has 13 stages (a lot I know) but it has a lot of easy air strafes and stuff to help the new players learn. I would rate it tier 1-2, its the same difficulty as surf_rookie imo. I set up the stages using your tool Teddi, so let me know if I didn't do something right. I played it a few times and I haven't hit any pebbles, it also has multiples bonuses which I attempted to block off. At the end it takes you to this block tower and I have no clue how to teleport players back to spawn right after map completion. PS: For the easy server
I'll check it out in a bit; players will automatically spawn right back at the start on Surf once they hit the last area, so you don't need to worry about that.
Apologies, I thought I'd already responded to you on this one. I'll just check over my notes soonish to see what I was going to say about it.
Maybe I'm misuserstanding how many stages you're looking to implement - however there's still only 3 stages located within this file, alongside with 4 area blocks. Intended or? Generally a poor quality map unfortunately. I understand what the map is trying to convey but for newer players it's pretty terrible in the sense of the ramps are horridly thin and it won't allow for newer players to easily understand how to gain speed. In terms of processing the map you did a decent job, although I don't think you realised that you were often clicking on the middle of a ramp to set the spawn location to be there, so in some cases when you teleport you're stuck in the middle of the ramp :v
Frequency and underworld are being added today so those that suggested those maps will see their cubes in the next few hours.
While I can attempt to tinker with the lightning system, I'd rather not unless the map is that good to surf.
I think I found something better to help new players since the last map I submitted had really skinny ramps. Its Tier 1 Linear. For the Easy Server
