So what are your guys thoughts about it? Always online DRM? Server issues at launch? I bought the game because I love the series. Personally I have no issues with always online DRM, at the end of the day it works reasonably well. What I do have problems with is that method affecting the game. EA/Maxis have had to disable several core features of the game just because there servers couldn't handle it. (Even though these things could just as easily be done client side) It launched in the uk this morning and personally I've had zero issues with servers. I've joined not had to queue and not once been disconnected. Anyone else playing? Interested in setting up a region? lemmie know
I was going to get it, but in light of all the DRM issues, I avoided it. If the server issues are alright, then I might pick it up tonight! Just annoyed about the small size of cities.
Yeah small size of cities is an annoyance at first. but the cross city support really does make it much better once you get used to it. Having one city as a tourism place one as industrial instead of having sections of your city do that is good.
The problem with Sim City is this, ultimately it's a timeless classic. People kept playing it because you could build all sorts, trash it, come back to it, start anew, build differently and so on. It's one of the few games where there are no nostalgia goggles because it's genuinely that enjoyable. With EA and the fact you have to join a server to play it, come three years down the line when the game has a tiny playerbase, they'll turn off the servers. Then you're left with the equivalent of a digital paperweight, a game you can't play and unless someone works out exactly what goes on with EA's servers and designs a crack. Also Ducky it's probably because you started playing when no one else was on, you did say it took you forever to get through the queue the first time.
I originally thought it was going to take forever but as soon as i picked the right server (i was being a derp and confusing east and west europe) i loaded in instantly. As for the whole servers going down in x years. I should think (hope) that they will have made it available to play in single player by then.

The great city of Fibbleton has been lost :suicide: Got corrupted and now won't load at all - my New Vegas town has lost all its power, sewage and water as a result. Fantastic.

Heard nothing but awful things about the way it's run tbh. Never really played the franchise at all, I found their games dated in the late 90s compared to what else was around.
I knew there was a thread somewhere! Who has read the new article? http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/01/13/simcity-offline-mode-announced-will-be-added-in-next-update/ Offline mode coming, which means more modding capability! About fucking time.
