It will rape your wife and murder your dog, and then steal everything in your chests. Also notice how it's black
from notch "The Endermen are peaceful. If you look straight at them, they freeze and look at you. When you look away again, they run fast. And teleport." that sounds familiar, and terrifying
After several hours straight (literally) we finally got the teleporters working adequately. (due to a bug they would just create new teleporters rather than transport you to the nearest, regardless of their range) You can now access the valley from the spawn point, and vice versa through the nethergates there. I'm not expecting the valley to overfill, although we'll be starting a large project in the centre soon. So yeah, teleporters working. I will point out that we had to disable most other nethergates, so please bear in mind if you plan on rebuilding them that it doesn't interfere (redirect) the public line, as that has priority.
I'm curious as to how you were able to accomplish this with the teleporters going in just one direction.
Gateways create a radius around them and connect to the nearest gateway in that radius. Which is why if people start making more gates it'll probably screw with it. It involved a lot of counting individual blocks to get the exact distances in the nether.
I'm starting the "Carry a map" initiative! Take a map from the spawn (either the chest under the desert spawn or next to the nethergate in the fort) and you'll be linked with other players carrying it too. You'll see what's been explored in grid 0 and be able to see other people carrying the map. Sadly grid 0 doesn't include the valley but it's a pretty big area of what's been inhabited so far. So yeah, get a map and keep it in your invent if you want to see other people/allow them to see you on the map, it'll make it easier for exploration and such.
Ah, that's why the gates are so far apart in the nether. Do we need to do this if we've already crafted our own maps?
Yeah, you could just carry both though. To see other players they have to have an identical map to the one held, and the ones in the chests are all the same. ATM 5 people have it. Yup, although it would have been a lot further without careful counting - it's lucky they're as close as they are really (which when you consider is pretty close as it's like a 30 second track ride or 1 min-1.5 min walk).
Effectively Gateways check for the nearest gate in the same chunk (or nearest chunk). Kaiden did pretty good to manage what he did.
Which commands are really required? I left out Essentials etc on purpose because it's full of bloat we never really needed.
/sethome and /home would be the ones that would be really helpful, trying to find my house after i respawn is tough
So... I tried joining the server today, just to see how [BB]'s stacks up to mine, but I cannot access it, even though Teddi's post claims it is up. What's wrong?
