I used to play on the [BB] (Yes, it is legendary enough to name it in it's own tag) servers as WTFFacestab having an AMAZING time on the best RP server. I have been running through Gmod lately after all these years of going into competitive gaming, and I got nostalgic when I kept seeing RP servers. God I miss those days with the few people I remember, AETHER and Genocide roaming the streets, having a blast with nonsensical RP fun and at the same time still serious. So I googled BB roleplay and I found you guys again! But the forums don't seem very active, but I see there is not a drought of members. I have been lurking the Roleplay forums here and seeing the status updates but i'm shocked to see that posts are claiming it was discontinued. but what enlightened me to see that the development team was working on it once more, but no estimated time on when RP11 will come out. I kind of wonder what happened to the old community (Back with even the Kudo drama) and if they're still around in the servers. (I would post on WTFFacestab, but I lost the account password, and trying to recover it but I think someone compromised my old email I logged into it with, but the process is almost over, and i've changed my alias to this.)
If I remember correctly Aether was an RDMing moron who later became an admin over with Kudo, and there is no RP11, and there is no release date for the new roleplay because of what happened with RP09.
Hi John Brown. I'd be committed to learn a language to help script the new RP since I loved it that much, but I guess you guys aren't welcoming since what Kudo did?
The problem we have with people saying "we'll learn a language" is mainly two things. People start and give up - ie that's useless to us. Second is that learning a language takes time, heavy input and effort and both myself and Whitefang are too busy to even attempt to try and help someone along. That and we have pretty high standards.
I love coding realy do, I understand the structure of loops and if statments. But no offence, its like saying in garrysmod: if blackmodel.mdl = steam id then label.text = "Win!" end if if proplimit > 60 then msgbox("Screw you too much props dude") elseif proplimit = 0 then msgbox("Build you noob") end if loop untill players.amount > 30{ Msgbox("Zomg server grown popular, Have "+money+" this anount of cubes, just waste your life on!") upload("sadface.gif"); sql = "Select steamid from clientnoobswhodonotplaybbanymore where money value "+60" } i++ No offence ignore... I was bored in class, my mind is boilded up
Welsh, that's basic utilisation of what Gmod syntax provides. We're going the extra mile. As Whitefang has said in the past the Inventory alone is using around 3/4 custom objects specifically written for it. Amen2 is also having custom objects written for it. Everything is. It's just just basic comparason etc.
I definitely wouldn't expect to help with the development team after I posted "willing to learn", because that automatically insinuates I have no experience with the code (LOGIC BOMB!!!!). But that statement doesn't lie, I've loved the idea of creating and editing games. I would like to be pointed in the right direction, so I can give it a try and practice it on my own, gotta start somewhere. And whitefang, your sig is a bit creepy
Thanks whitefang. Did you learn from that? Or from another source, or a friend? If you learned from that source, which sections are heavily stressed in coding for Gmod? Or is most of it equally used?
I downloaded a few simple gamemodes (I think Flood was among them) and tried to learn what the code did. The Wiki is also a great resource if you want to learn what a function does/how to use it. After that, I made a few simple weapons (using the CSS base), and then started on a simple DM gamemode. Went pretty fast from there. For a text editor, I recommend Sublime Text Editor with this plugin
