As of today’s update, a new season system has been introduced to surf! This will allow us to host competitions based on records from the time trials system, and maybe even give out prizes (yay!).

A few things to explain first though!

    Season Dates
Each seasons come with three dates, a ‘Start’ date, a ‘Close’ date and an ‘End Date. The start and end date are pretty self-explanatory, which is when the seasons starts and end. The close date is when we STOP counting records for the season and perform the final point calculations. This gives us a buffer time where you can see where you ranked on the point leader board and award prizes if there are any!

The start and close date relate to 00:00 on the date shown, the end date relates to 23:59 on the date shown for a clean handover to the next season.

This means if you get a record on 01/01/2016, and the close date is 01/01/2016, then your record will NOT be counted.

    Seasonal Time Trial Leader board

There is now a new ‘seasonal’ time trial leader board which works much the same way as the existing weekly, month, and all-time board. This of course only applies for the current season, before the close date.

    Points Leader board
At the start of every day, we perform an aggregate calculation where we go through every maps seasonal time trial leader board, and convert your current position into points. The table for this conversion is as per below:
    • 1st Place = 12 Points
    • 2nd Place = 10 Points
    • 3rd Place = 8 Points
    • 4th Place = 7 Points
    • 5th Place = 6 Points
    • 6th Place = 5 Points
    • 7th Place = 4 Points
    • 8th Place = 3 Points
    • 9th Place = 2 Points
    • 10th Place = 1 Points
Your total points in the point’s leader board is an aggregate across all maps, so if you want more points, you need to get your rankings up in the seasonal leader boards! As noted above, the points are only calculated every 24 hours, so any change in rankings will not take effect until the following day.

A final note is that you can also view your point history across the season! So with all that said, the first season is just a test one (Check in game for dates), but the next season following that (provided there are no issues!) will have some prizes up for grabs, so good luck!
